Gay Travelers @ Los Angeles
Los Angeles Hotels for Gay Travelers
West Hollywood is known colloquially as "boy's town." Located between
Beverly Hills and Hollywood proper, it is one of the liveliest areas of
L. A with dance clubs, comedy clubs and happening restaurants. There’s a people-watching scene on the city’s main drag, Santa Monica Boulevard. In summer 2001 the street re-opened after two years of construction, and strolling the side-walk cafes, clubs and boutiques is better than ever. The fabled Sunset Strip also runs
through this part of the city.
West Hollywood is home to three of Los Angeles' hypertrendy hotels: The
Mondrian; The Argyle; and The Standard. All have restaurants and bars
that are jam- packed nightly with local "beautiful people," including
celebrities. For the budget minded, the Holloway Motel offers a no-frills option.
Venice, a funky beach town with a carnival-like boardwalk, has a
stretch of golden sand locally called "the gay beach." If you plan to
spend time soaking up the sun, the Shangri-La Hotel in neighboring Santa
Monica is a high-style, refurbished deco building.
